Scanner Camera

Hands Experiment
I have always had scanners placed next to my computers when I am working or even at home. Scanners are great to scan documents that you need a soft copy of.

Another great thing about it is the type recognition software which reads the whole documents after it scans and will retype it out for you with very few mistakes. I think this is a great tool to have. The other way of using a scanner as I have done here it to scan objects or like in my case my hands. I just think of the scanner as another type of camera.

The flat type of camera. If you move your hand then you will get blurring which is also a neat effect as well.

The series of images you see here is the result of when I was just playing around with the scanner while waiting for the computer to upload large files to the internet for royalty free stock photos that I am selling.

I find the end results very interesting… who would have thought my own hand as the subject matter, look at the textures and lines… and in one of the photos I had my wooden hand to accompany my real hand. The wooden hand is a display ornament. I have both of my own hands still intact with me now, in case anyone was wondering.

If you have a scanner why not try to scan something and get some unexpected results?

You could scan other body parts if you so desire but keep it locked well otherwise if it gets stolen if you send your computer out to be repaired like someone infamous we know, then there is no one to blame except yourself right?

Give it a try, you will be inspired to scan everything including your pet cat if you can get it to stay still….. :-)
