Robot Artist Trading Cards Series
I came across a wonderful idea for creating art back in 2002… it started a few years earlier than that but this was the first time I read about it. They are called Artist Trading Cards.
What are Artist Trading Cards? Well they are mini art sized the same as baseball trading cards. Only most of these are either original works of art or limited edition artworks. The great thing about this ATC’s as they are more commonly known as is that anyone can do it.
Whatever the skill, trained artists, children, adults without any artistic skill can create one. It can be a poem or magazine collage etc. The sky is the limit. Each of these ATC’s are then exchanged with people from all over the world.
I was very actively involved for a few years and have created more than 2,000 cards and most have been exchanged with other ATC’s artists across the globe. It is still going strong.
Some creators have also begun to sell these works of art and those who like them can buy them for their own private collection.
This particular set of ATC’s were originals that have since been exchanged and is of robots that I created on the computer. There is not end to what you can create.
There are also photo atc’s which is basically a photo that was shot and printed in that size. At the back of the atc it is usually written with the name of the piece, date created, edition number (if it is a limited edition set), email address or address and the artist’s signature. The size for an atc is 2.5 inches by 3.5 inches.
It can be vertical or horizontal. Later I will show other examples of these creations that I have done as well.
If you are interested to create atc’s or find out more about them you can have a look at www.atcquarterly.com where you can subscribe to their magazine about atc’s.
